Sunday Meanderings

Hello!! 

I've had a wonderful week!  I spent 3 days in the Atlanta area, my trip was book inspired and included visiting family and so much good food!!
Tuesday dinner was a visit to downtown Decatur and Taqueria del Sol.  Yummm, I had a Memphis Taco,  a brisket taco, and a chicken enchilada.  Tasty guacamole too!

Wednesday had a special treat with a visit to DeKalb School of the Arts, and my friend Cale's Creative Writing class was welcoming author Lydia Netzer. They had read her debut novel Shine, Shine, Shine.  Introduced by Joshylin Jackson, with publicist, blogger and friend Alison Law in attendance too.  Amazingly bright and inquisitive students, asking great questions and yet still typical teens.  I enjoyed every minute of this time.

Wednesday afternoon I got an early happy hour treat by stopping by Book Exchange in Marietta.  Owned by Cat Blanco who I'd met at last years Decatur Book Festival.  The store is mostly used books, but is organized by subject and easy to fine lots of great reading material.  Cat called lots of her bookish friends and while some were busy, author Renea Winchester and her husband, along with author Grant Jerkins stopped by.  Wine, bloody marys, treats, good talk, and books make a great combination.  Thanks for all the love y'all!

Quick run to pick up Book-aliciaous Mama, Jennifer, and we were off to FoxTale to hear Erika Robuck and Karen White talk.  Karen lead the interview with Erika about her new book Fallen Beauty.  The ladies, Karen, Ellen, and Jackie, of FoxTale are just the best!!  No surprise their store was voted best bookstore in Atlanta Magazine for 2013.  Only my second visit to the store and they welcome me like old friends or family.  A wonderful event, topped off with dinner for Jennifer, Erika and I.

There was more good food both the other nights I was in town, and I was good and only purchased 3 books while out and about, and two were Erika's that I have read, but now I have her three historical fictions books signed!

I finished just one book in print and one in audio this past week.  Reviews to come soon I hope....reading is sometimes more fun than writing. I listened to The Wives of Los Alamos by TaraShea Nesbit, a short book but so interesting, the tale of the women who went with their husbands to a remote area amid hushed and secreted work. Their husbands were building the first atomic bomb.   I read The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh.  So well done, a debut novel, I couldn't put it down, travel and family/friends got in my way, but this book was so so good! 

Caitie has been home for the weekend, Spring Break!  She leaves tomorrow afternoon to visit a friend on the Gulf side, friends with boats are always a big draw!  Nick had his wrestling banquet and he received his Varsity Letter!

I'm heading to the grocery store and then secluding myself with a book!  My week is fairly back to routine.  Wishing you good weather, good books and people that love you!
