Family Time

We had a fabulous weekend visiting with our girls.
I was hit suddenly last week by an online friend expressing my helicopter parenting. I've been called many things, but not this one.  I'm not sure what an acceptable level of contact is with ones college aged children(almost adults). There is nothing written in stone, but there are plenty of books on the subject, lordy do I really need to read more?  I've come to realize we all parent in our own way, from birth to adulthood we all do it differently.  This is no different as to how we communicate with and visit our college age children.  So this is how we do it, and it's working for us. In case you're wondering, I told the online friend to take a leap!

In less than 24 hours we saw 2 softball games, visited with Caitie, ate 2 meals out.  Nick was able to get a fairly good tour of the UNF campus, and a new t shirt.  Would any visit be complete without a visit to the bookstore?  I think not!
After breakfast Saturday morning we were on the road home, and onto football for Nick.
Here are a few pictures

This week is fairly quiet, work, school for Nick, and then a quiet weekend, football is the only thing scheduled.
We're having nicer temps here in Florida and I'm enjoying it so much.  I'd like it a bit cooler, but it will come.
Last week I organized my books.......way too many to read, but I'm determined to tackle them!
Oh my mom is going to buy my Kindle, once I finish some books that I must read, and then I can purchase a nook.  I have to admit I think it's a better product, with great customer service, and I'm excited about getting it in a month or so.

When you said "football is the only thing scheduled" I chuckled. That will wipe out your week in one fell swoop. Sounds like you had a great time!

I loved the photos! I have to agree with Sandy that it looks like you had a wonderful time out there! I am also excited that you will be getting a Nook as well. I want to come over and play with it when you get it!

What a fun weekend! I don't think visiting your kids make you a helicopter parent. Helicopter parents are the ones who call the professors.

Before trying the Nook, why don't you check out the Amazon Fire -- it seems really neat and might be better than the Nook.

And I didn't get what helicopter parenting meant. I'm guessing "hovering." You are right to tell that commenter to take a flying leap. If your kids enjoy your company and visits, all the power to you!!!

You have a beautiful family, Anita!

Enjoy your Nook, I'll bet you'll love it.

Have a terrific weekend, and give your precious furbaby a squeeze from me!

It's a wonderful thing when the kids enjoy being with their parents. Glad you all had good family time.

I have a Nook; the one with the touch screen at the bottom. My soon-to-be 16 year old wants the lastest one...shaped more as a square. Which one are you getting?

My 11 year old has a Kindle. I've been disappointed to not be able to get certain children's books on it.
